Last Thursday (10-01-09) in class, Tony had us go out into the hallway and he demonstrated how to use the "Auto Exposure Bracketing". I had heard of this technique, but had never tried it or really understood it. He programmed his camera and then mounted it on a tripod. He then shot several images of the same scene, where the camera automatically changed the exposure compensation. He had us shoot some images of the hallway, just to practice with the exposure compensation. This was to demonstrate how to handle various light sources to make a better image. We then returned to the classroom and used Tony's images in Photomatix to generate a HDR (high dynamic range) photo. I'm very excited about this program, as the final image has a much better balance of light and detail in both shadows and highlights.
