Busy weekend, lots of photos

We certainly had a busy weekend: I photographed a wedding on Friday evening in Steeleville, we attended my class reunion in Clarksville on Saturday evening and spent that night at Tom & Margaret's, my brother and sister-in-law, who live in Bowling Green. While Tim, my husband, and Tom went fishing, Margaret and I did a long walk on Sunday morning to the Bowling Green reservoirs and back through the country roads, about a four-mile walk. Everything is so green this year from the abundant rainfall, and we saw lots of yellow flowers along the road.
There is a small pond across the road from my brother's house that I have photographed before, and it's interesting in all seasons. The waterlilies have almost covered the surface and there is a group of cattails which are taller than me. A small white pumphouse makes for a bit of contrast and interest. I needed boots as the grass was wet and the soil marshy. However, I was not going to let that impede my mission, so I just made a mental note to include boots for the next photo expedition and got my shoes and socks pretty-much soaked.
On the way home, we stopped at Whiteside so I could show Tim the lake at the White Memorial Wildlife Area. By this time on Sunday afternoon, it had gotten cloudy and was quite chilly. There were a few people fishing, but otherwise, it was quiet. Of course Tim could not resist getting his fishing rod out and trying his luck. I wandered around and found several photo ops. I always look for water and reflection when I'm out with my camera, I think that's probably one of my favorite subject matters.
While Tim was fishing, I completed last Thursday's assignment, "White Balancing Act", as I didn't think I'd be able to get another chance for portraits when we got home. Although they're not as dramatic and creative as I like in portraits, I was able to see the difference in using the white balance presets.
