This has been a busy weekend for us. We left Friday morning for a wedding in Higginsville, MO (near KC) on Saturday. This was my nephew, Jamie's, wedding and he and Emily asked me to do their photographs. Although weddings are not my favorite subject to photograph, WAY too much pressure, I've learned a lot. We scouted out locations at Confederate Park for post-reception photographs on Friday. This is a peaceful, scenic spot with several ponds, gently rolling hills and very well-maintained. Satuday was clear and mild, not too hot by afternoon.
Tim has become my unpaid, but much-appreciated assistant. He has learned what I look for and makes suggestions or simply points out a shot. I feel my wedding photography is too documentary in nature and lacks individuality. I don't know how to get around that in doing group shots. Almost all of my photos were posed, with the exception of the ceremony shots. I was able to inject some life in the park photos which were done in the late evening.
