Although I don't usually like using my camera's flash, I found myself intrigued by this assignment. It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, as I was not happy with my initial images. I shot a lot of images of my cats, as I like to watch them play. They get so excited with their games, they really live in the moment.
I used a few of the images I shot over the weekend in New Harmony, Indiana, where we had gone to visit Tim's elderly aunt. A festival celebrating the town's German heritage,"Kunstfest", fell on that weekend, so we did some exploring.
For one group of photos, I used a type of "superball" which had a flashing red light when bounced. Using my "night portrait" mode, I tried throwing the ball up the stairs from the basement and shooting it as it bounced back down toward me. I hadn't realized my calico cat, Gracie, had followed me downstairs, and she jumped at the ball as it came back downstairs. I decided I like the photos of the ball with her in the picture, probably because she's following the path of the ball with her eyes and head.

The last three images were done with Tim's assistance: he teased the cats with the laser from the electronic level. I shot these in the "night portrait" mode. I tried following the cats as they attempted to capture the laser, but I don't think my exposure was long enough.
No cats were harmed in the production of these photos! I think they might have even gotten a little excercise from this assignment.
